Why Ethiopian Calendar Has 13 Month?

The Ethiopian calendar has a year of 13 months, with 12 months of 30 days and a short month of 5 or 6 days, The last month has 5 days in a common year and 6 days during the leap year.

Ethiopian new year is on September 11th, except in leap years, when it is on September 12th.

365 ÷ 7 = 52 x 7 +1 = 30 x 12+5

366 ÷ 7 = 52 x 7 + 2 = 30 x 12 + 6 (Leap year)
